QT designed instrumentation -modules-S5g-

S5g, HF-source dc-200MHz (picture of prototype)

This module provides a fibre-coupled isolation stage for signals up to 200MHz to send analog or pulse signals up to 2V in 50ohm. Signals are send via a fibre (5 meter) from a analog line/battery powered transmitter module.

For pulse operation only the simpler on/off LED-driver could also be used.

Although the link is dc-coupled to have a flat pulse response for long pulses, the dc-specs are of a lower quality compared to the lf isoamps (S0/M0) typical a few mV of offset can be expected.
The unit can be set for accurate low/high level limitvalues (1nS response). Use of these (dac/voltage/potmeter) variable levels can create a pulsegenerator with rise/fall times below 2nS
example waveforms (both persistance display mode to show noise):

Linear operation, step response

Limiting operation same input signal (improvement on noise, risetime and shape)

The unit can be used in several ways:
1-analog isoamp for rf-signals (dc-control input can be used to add dc)
2-pulse source, send max level analog pulse through fibre. Use high and low limit to set/modulate the pulse levels (with dacs). Rise/fall and pulse width can still be controlled by the (commercial) pulser driving the fibre-transmitter
3-mixed mode, example: start at low-limit level, send analog ramp or other curve end at well-defined high-limit level
ramp down to analog-defined in-between plateau
ramp to low-limit level

High level value should always be >0.3V above low level  value.
Measured bandwidth is 210MHz for 0.2Vpp and 130MHz for 2Vpp.
A reverse measure link is also possible to create a 200MHz iso-out module.
